Factory Loading Dock Upgrades: Smart Safety Alert System Protecting Workers 24/7!
- 1 When a forklift approaches the dock and the mini computer receives a signal from the receiver, it immediately activates the LED warning lights, which flash and sound an alarm.
- 2 A UWB Tag (or iBeacon Tag) is installed on each forklift.
- 3 Multiple sets of LED warning lights can be linked to operate together.
- 4 A UWB Tag (or iBeacon Tag) is installed on each forklift.
- 5 The distance between the forklift and the loading dock entrance is calculated from the signal strength between the wireless receiver and the forklift (UWB Tag).
Rapid Identification of Forklifts and Personnel with UWB Technology
Secure high-traffic work zones and prevent accidents
In loading dock areas where cargo trucks, forklifts, and other vehicles move frequently, high-precision UWB positioning technology calculates the exact distance between receivers and forklifts (UWB Tags). Once a UWB Tag enters the designated safety perimeter, the system instantly triggers active alerts to remind nearby personnel to remain cautious.

YenProtek's Industry 4.0 product development and system integration help clients improve safety and accident prevention in high-risk work zones.
Project Overview
A major tech manufacturer wanted to use sensing devices and IoT technology to accurately identify forklifts, personnel, manual stackers, hydraulic pallet jacks, and other vehicles, so that whenever a forklift enters or leaves a designated area, LED warning lights would simultaneously sound an alarm and flash to alert personnel, ensuring safety at loading dock entrances and reducing the risk of accidents. Beyond fast, real-time response, the client also asked for a solution that would be simple to install and quick to deploy.
To meet the client's requirements, we proposed a UWB (or Bluetooth) vehicle detection system. The system calls for a UWB Tag (or iBeacon Tag) to be installed on each forklift, with wireless receivers and warning lights mounted on the wall. Multiple sets of LED warning lights can be linked together and installed either integrated with the receivers or independently anywhere on site. The signal strength of the UWB Tag (or iBeacon Tag) is used to determine the distance between a forklift and the warning zone, and in combination with a local gateway, when the system detects a vehicle approaching the warning zone, it instantly triggers an alarm (lights and sound) to alert personnel (multiple sets of LED lights can be linked). Beyond improving personnel safety, it also reduces the labor cost of stationing staff at every entrance.
The advantage of this wireless personnel and vehicle detection system is that every UWB Tag (or iBeacon Tag) has a unique ID, so receivers can track only designated IDs and ignore any other tags nearby. UWB Tags (and iBeacon Tags) are also low-cost accessories that are easy to install, deploy, and replace.
