Project Overview

In this project, the client commissioned YenProtek to develop an AIoT device that simulates a pedestrian crosswalk, hoping to use technology to automate the collection of more accurate and reliable pedestrian walking data, saving manpower while avoiding the errors of manual counting. To meet the client's need for automatic speed detection and pedestrian walking data collection, YenProtek designed the "Smart Pedestrian Walking Measurement System." Using wireless laser sensing technology, it is efficient and accurate, and its timer mode can be set to "count up" or "countdown" depending on the purpose. The lightweight, portable design makes it easy for the client to set up and take down, and it can be powered by mains electricity or batteries depending on the site, making it flexible enough for a wide variety of locations.

Before testing, simply enter the participant's basic information; once the test is complete, a walking analysis report is automatically generated for each participant (including walking time in seconds, walking speed, recommended crossing time, and other data). The data is uploaded to and integrated in the Cloud, giving analysts a basis for developing pedestrian-related traffic applications, and users can also view test results in real time via the mobile app. The system is ideal both for traffic authorities collecting general pedestrian walking speed data and as a traffic education tool at government agencies, schools, and other venues.

  1. Start sensor: starts timing when the laser detects a pedestrian passing
  2. Crosswalk simulation mat: length adjustable to suit the scenario (5m-100m)
  3. Display: shows the participant the elapsed seconds (count-up mode) or remaining seconds (countdown mode) during the test
  4. End sensor: stops timing when the laser detects a pedestrian passing

Bringing IoT to traffic monitoring: historical data and event alerts give traffic planning a stronger basis, making roads safer and management more efficient.
