The Philippine Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Labor Advisory No. 08, Series of 2023 advises employers to reduce heat exposure through ventilation and insulation, adjust rest periods or work locations, allow uniforms and protective gear suited to heat, provide adequate drinking water free of charge, raise awareness of heat hazard symptoms and set up emergency response procedures. Flexible work arrangements may also be adopted with workers' consent.
The labor advisory is guidance only and sets no numerical WBGT threshold; employers remain bound by the general safety duties under the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Law (Republic Act No. 11058). In 2025, a member of the House of Representatives also proposed an amendment to that law that would require occupational safety and health programs to include climate-adaptation measures for workers' health; it has not yet been passed.

What is the WBGT heat index?
WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) is an index that takes into account environmental factors such as air temperature, humidity, wind speed, and radiant heat to assess the risk of heat stress that hot environments pose to the human body. It is also the heat stress assessment index adopted by the ISO 7243 international standard. Heat Safety Guardian calculates WBGT in real time from air temperature, humidity, and globe temperature, and proactively issues alarms when readings become abnormal.
What does Philippine law require for work in heat?
The Philippines has no statutory WBGT threshold. DOLE Labor Advisory No. 08, Series of 2023, advises employers to reduce heat exposure through ventilation and insulation, adjust rest periods or work locations, allow uniforms and protective gear suited to heat, provide adequate drinking water free of charge, raise awareness of heat hazard symptoms and set up emergency response procedures. What if it breaks?
It comes with a one-year warranty, and an extended warranty is available. If the product fails during the warranty period, there's no need to send it in and wait for repairs: we ship you a replacement right away so your heat hazard monitoring is back up and running as quickly as possible. After the warranty expires, units can be returned to our factory for repair. Actual warranty terms are subject to your quotation.
