As our society pays more attention to driving and traffic safety, people become more aware of the importance of vehicle safety and smart transportation infrastructure. Taiwan's mountain highways are often in complex terrains and narrow with many curves and steep slopes. When vehicles encounter curves, some drivers may misjudge the road conditions due to the lack of understanding of traffic conditions ahead and short reaction time, putting them in danger of accidents. Issues with special road conditions causing accidents must be solved. Traffic safety problems involving sharp turns, steep curves and other adverse terrains will certainly need smart traffic systems and other advanced technologies to provide real-time detection, warning, guidance and control to improve road safety and ensure travelers' safety.

YenProtek identifies the actual safety needs involving passing cars on narrow and curvy roads and focuses on improving drivers' experience to design a "Smart road safety warning system." It is not limited by drivers' field of view and can adapt to various complex road conditions. These benefits can be significantly advantageous for passing vehicles on narrow roads at night or under heavy fog and rainy weather. The system can provide timely and accurate reminders so that drivers will know the situation of incoming vehicles in blind spots before entering curves and make timely decisions on risk-avoidance measures such as slowing down or evasion to avoid accidents.

HOW IT WORKS

Infrared sensors mainly serve to detect vehicles entering blind spots. They are installed on both sides of the roads before the curves, and traffic warning lights are installed on the right (or left) side of the roads before the infrared sensors. LED signal lights are used to optimize vehicles' driving order and prevent vehicles from meeting one another in narrow corners, effectively preventing traffic accidents and road congestion on those narrow corners.
